Its drum rolls as the gospel industry announces return of gospel awards.

The gospel industry is beaming with excitement after the announcement of the return of the long-awaited gospel awards. Speaking during the launch, its founder Geoffrey Kwatemba promised to revive the vitality in the gospel industry whose fire was dimming off. "The disappearance of awards has affected the industry negatively; there is reduced motivation, lack of positive competition, and the quality of some songs is not like it would have been before. We'll bring back what was once the measure of a gospel musician's success.The Kibali awards initiative which was launched in 2020 but crippled by the restrictive nature of the Covid 19 pandemic period, seeks to empower talent in the gospel music industry which has been defunct for years now. More woes continue to face Nairobi's Governor Johnson Sakaja as he has today been ousted as the Human Resource Chairperson for the Council of Governors. He has now been replaced by Nyeri's Mutahi Kahiga in an exercise that also saw the replacement of Machakos Governor Wavinya Ndeti from the Trade docket who will now be replaced by Nakuru's Susan Kihika. Baringo's Governor Benjamin Cheboi now takes over the chair of the Security committee from Tana river's Dhadho Godana. Notable was the re-election of Kirinyaga's Anne Waiguru who retained her seat as the Chairperson of the CoG having been elected unopposed. She is set to be deputised by her counterpart from Wajir county Ahmed Abdullahi.  In a statement, Governor Waiguru has stated her main focus in her second term as increasing revenue collection in counties, fully devolving functions and resources, successful universal healthcare rollout, Agriculture value chains development, value addition and trade.

CS Kithika Kindiki - Government committed to decongesting prison facilities.

Koko Interior Cabinet Secretary Kithika Kindiki has said that the Government is working towards upgrading and improving the living standards of correctional services through a raft of reforms aimed at improving the living conditions of inmates. CS Kindiki made the announcement when he visited Mwea prison in Kirinyaga county on Monday to check the status of the correctional facility. He further stated that the Government will provide equipment worth Ksh.1 billion in the next few months to help prison industries  to mechanise all prison farms countywide that have arable land and equip them with new equipment to modernize their operations and increase their productivity to assist in the country's food security plans. Prison departments boasts of 86 prison farms with a total of over 18,200 acres of land. The reforms include decongestion in order to safeguard the living conditions of the stations and educational and technical training.  Kindiki said there will be a review of archa
