Meet Tindi Mwale, the Butere constituency legislator. an avid dog lover and a fitness enthusiast, Tindi never shies away from showing his lavish lifestyle while engaging with his followers on social media. Despite his close relation to Principal cabinet secretary Musalia Mudavadi, Tindi largely subscribes to one of his mentors in politics, the late president Mwai Kibaki.
Few weeks ago, he was lauded by Kenyans for moving swiftly to help a homeless man from the streets after a video recently went viral since it emerged on social media, Mwale, a second term legislator took to his social media to appeal to any person who knew the whereabouts of a man who was captured in a stupor as he addressed a local TV station. Leornard Omusula's name's phrase became a social media sensation thanks to a reporter who interviewed him and backed up the file footage, 'Jina hutaki?' He queried. "Jina ni Leonard Omusala," he retorted when asked.
Netizens captivated by his honesty circulated the video making him a viral sensation. However, unknown to many, Omusula was living a dog's life without making an earning or shelter and could only depend on the Parliamentary Street premises to spend his chilly nights. When the legislator got wind about his plight, he launched a manhunt and located him days later. Upon their first meet up, Mwale offered to check Omusula, whose health was visibly dilapidated due to neglect, and check him into a rehab center before further offering him a job as his constituency's office messenger. After giving him a tour of his palatial home, the flamboyant politician was yet again on the spot after Omusula was hospitalised after falling from a bodaboda forcing him to seek medical attention. Omusula was discharged from the Kenyatta National hospital last weekend with all his bills settled and is set to make a full recovery before assuming his new role.
The move has earned Hon Tindi Mwale lots of admiration from social media users just days after the legislator declared he aspires to be the country's future head of state.
Recently, he shared a social media reel with the caption 'enjoy your evening from your future Head of state, a message that attracted several comments from his loyal followers.
As the last-born son to a renowned military man, the late General Mwale, Tindi was first elected to parliament in 2017 and was amongst the youngest legislators at the time. His close relationship with his party, Amani National Congress l(ANC) leader Musalia Mudavadi has seen him elevated as the ANC parliamentary group whip whilst serving in powerful committees including the public accounts and energy committees in the August house.
