Sonko personally donates 500 Ksh to winning Starles.

 S. Koko Former Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko on Tuesday afternoon joined football lovers who came out to cheer the National ladies'  team, Harambee Starlets after they ousted Cameroon in the 2024 Africa Women’s Cup of Nations (WAFCON) qualifiers. Sonko congratulated the team for their victory and gave a personal contribution of Sh250,000 to the players after they booked second round date with Botswana. "I may not hold any office at the moment, but the girls have played well and done the Country proud. They deserve all the support from the National, devolved and the ministry," Sonko appealed. Harambee Starlets advanced to the next round of the 2024 AWCON after a post-match a penalty shootout at Nyayo National Stadium. “This is historic. We have never won a match against Cameroon, yet their team took part in the last World Cup.
