Sonko personally donates 500 Ksh to winning Starles.

Former Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko on Tuesday afternoon joined football lovers who came out to cheer the National ladies' team, Harambee Starlets after they ousted Cameroon in the 2024 Africa Women’s Cup of Nations (WAFCON) qualifiers.

Sonko congratulated the team for their victory and gave a personal contribution of Sh250,000 to the players after they booked second round date with Botswana.

"I may not hold any office at the moment, but the girls have played well and done the Country proud. They deserve all the support from the National, devolved and the ministry," Sonko appealed.

Harambee Starlets advanced to the next round of the 2024 AWCON after a post-match a penalty shootout at Nyayo National Stadium.



“This is historic. We have never won a match against Cameroon, yet their team took part in the last World Cup. I’m ready to support the team going forward with more resources,” said Sonko while celebrating with the team.

The former Nairobi Governor, known for his philanthropic contributions further promised to make more donations to the team if they win their upcoming opponents and qualify for the female edition of the Africa Cup after sending the money causing the elated girls to burst into chants of Sonko, Sonko.

 Kabaa's Lucky Graduands: Youth in Machakos County benefit technologically from Kabaa Digital Resource center  Various youth from Machakos county were over the weekend awarded with certificates at a colorful ceremony following their successful completion of digital studies. PRESIDENT RUTO CLEARS CATHERINE KASAVULI'S 4M HOSPITAL BILL

 President William Ruto has waived the hospital bill incurred by the late veteran journalist Catherine Kasavuli, KBC anchor John Jacob has confirmed. In a tweet, Kioria expressed gratitude to the Head of State for helping offset the bill. "Great thanks to our President who has waived the hospital bill incurred by my colleague Catherine Kasavuli. May her soul continue to rest in peace," he wrote.  The family sought the help of well-wishers to offset an outstanding Ksh4 million bill accrued during Kasavuli's stay and treatment in the hospital. A requiem mass for the late journalist will be held on Thursday, January 12, 2023, at the Friends International Church along Ngong Road in Nairobi.
