ALEX WACHIRA, PS MINISTRY OF ENERGY - EXPLORING NEW CAPACITIES AND NEW HORIZONS

Newly appointed Principal Secretary, Ministry of Energy Alex Kamau Wachira, brings with him to the ministry a wealth of knowledge and experience from the private sector where he had previously served as an investment banker. He boasts of having worked with reputable organisations including Faida Investment Bank as well as having successfully undertaken assignments with Dyer & Blair Investment Bank and Genghis Capital limited.


PS Wachira has served in various leadership’s positions not only from his university days but right from his early secondary level where he honed his skills from Chinga boys' high school which he credits for polishing his acumen. He was a founding member of the Bonds Market Association as well as a member of the Steering Committee of the Kenya Association of Stockbrokers and Investment Bankers (KASIB). His contribution to the Bond’s market saw him being appointed to the Central Depository Project at the Central Bank of Kenya (CBK). In 2021, the project dealt in government securities worth 900 billion, the highest turnover ever in Kenya. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing from the University of Nairobi and is currently pursuing a Master of Arts degree in Leadership at Pan African Christian University.



PS Kamau's impressive track record will be instrumental especially at a time when the country aspires to achieve 100 % Renewable energy power generation by 2030. Since his appointment he has been tasked in representing the state department of energy creating cordial synergies with various stakeholders in a bid to exploring new capacities and horizons in ensuring the country sorts out the energy crisis and move the economy up the value chain. 
Born and bred in Central Kenya and a philanthropist by his own right popularly known as Alex wa Total, he makes a cut as one of the many to watch out for in his highly coveted appointment to public office as Kenya aspires to achieve universal access to clean cooking fuels and technologies by 2028.

PRESIDENT RUTO CLEARS CATHERINE KASAVULI'S 4M HOSPITAL BILL

 President William Ruto has waived the hospital bill incurred by the late veteran journalist Catherine Kasavuli, KBC anchor John Jacob has confirmed. In a tweet, Kioria expressed gratitude to the Head of State for helping offset the bill. "Great thanks to our President who has waived the hospital bill incurred by my colleague Catherine Kasavuli. May her soul continue to rest in peace," he wrote.  The family sought the help of well-wishers to offset an outstanding Ksh4 million bill accrued during Kasavuli's stay and treatment in the hospital. A requiem mass for the late journalist will be held on Thursday, January 12, 2023, at the Friends International Church along Ngong Road in Nairobi. Kasavuli's remains will then be transported to Vihiga county where the final service will take place at her rural home at Tigoi Primary School on Saturday, January 14. The late journalist's burial will occur the same Saturday at her home in Zululu, Vihiga County after the funeral s
