WHY USE EXCESSIVE FORCE AGAINST A MINOR IN A PEACEFUL PROCESSION



Embakasi East legislator Babu Owino, has vehemently condemned the use of excessive force by police during the Azimio demos which were held in different parts of the country. The legislator blamed police brutality which resulted in the shooting of members of his constituency including a 17 year old minor who was allegedly shot by police in the leg and a boda boda rider who sustained three gunshots wounds with one aimed on his lower belly. "Why are you doing this to my people Ruto? The police are hungrier than my constituents. A child aged 17 years old was shot at Embakasi East," he alleged. 



Taking to his social media, the outspoken legislator shared a video of a boda boda rider with three gunshot wounds, 2 on both legs and 1 on his belly which he alleged were from police shootings. The victim, Owino 32, who hails from Riverbank, claims he was shot at close range as he went on his business as a boda boda rider. He was rushed to Juacali health facility before he was transfered to Kenyatta University hospital under the directives of Hon. Babu Owino.

 The demonstrations which had been planned as peaceful resulted in multiple fatalities, scores of injuries, paralyzed business activities and destruction of property. Azimio la Umoja leaders has promised not to relent until their intended mission is achieved.

PRESIDENT RUTO CLEARS CATHERINE KASAVULI'S 4M HOSPITAL BILL

 President William Ruto has waived the hospital bill incurred by the late veteran journalist Catherine Kasavuli, KBC anchor John Jacob has confirmed. In a tweet, Kioria expressed gratitude to the Head of State for helping offset the bill. "Great thanks to our President who has waived the hospital bill incurred by my colleague Catherine Kasavuli. May her soul continue to rest in peace," he wrote.  The family sought the help of well-wishers to offset an outstanding Ksh4 million bill accrued during Kasavuli's stay and treatment in the hospital. A requiem mass for the late journalist will be held on Thursday, January 12, 2023, at the Friends International Church along Ngong Road in Nairobi. Kasavuli's remains will then be transported to Vihiga county where the final service will take place at her rural home at Tigoi Primary School on Saturday, January 14.
