The future of Rugby in Kenya is in the hands of the youth - Sasha Mutai, KRU Chairman.
The chairperson of the Kenya Rugby Union Sasha Mutai is calling on Kenyans of all walks to make a date at the ongoing under 20 World championship trophy whose finals will be held in Nairobi this Sunday. Sasha made the statement encouraging youthful fans to keep their love for the game up and show their spirit by attending the live matches.
"We take pride in the quality of rugby displayed by our local teams during the ongoing Sportpesa Sevens Circuit. Particularly, a big congratulations to the women's team, the lionesses for qualifying in representing Africa and the U20 team that were runners up in Barthes cup and have been consistently improving having beat Hong and China in the tournament," he said. The union has rolled out a strategic plan to woo young fans to bring back love for the game. "We want rugby to be integrated into the system as a core curriculum sport at different levels in learning institutions. It's a huge ecosystem involving showbiz activities that are popular with the young generation and we are looking at bright times ahead as we gear up for the World Cup in 2027."

The Rugby Union has introduced a highly subsidised ticket for the World Rugby U20 Trophy tournament to encourage more die-hard rugby fans to grace the final play-offs of the international showpiece this weekend.
The ticket is running for only Ksh 100 advanced match entry ticket in which the drive runs till mid-night of Saturday 29th July.
