A section of leaders from the Western region of Kenya have united in hosting education celebrations aimed at rallying stakeholders to improve the quality of education in the region as well as sensitize parents and students against cases of early pregnancy which continues to be a major menace affecting students in the region. While marking the Education Day, stakeholders in the sector joined National leaders in a well-attended and colourful celebration as the leaders took stock of their journey and reflected on last year's examination performance in the region. The leaders who included National assembly speaker Moses Wetangula, PS State Department of Industrialisation Dr. Juma Mukhwana, legislators John Waluke, Didmus Barasa amongst others called for pragmatic strategies by parents, religious groups and the administration to ensure the region is on the forefront in ensuring their children go to school as the only inheritance from the community.
"We will continue to push for key interventions including scholarship programs, resourcing schools and the newly integrated lunch programs for candidates to motivate learners," Jack Wamboka.
During the event dubbed 'To invest in people, prioritize education,' Speaker Wetangula underscored the unity and cooperation amongst the Mulembe leaders that continues to attract the fruits of development in the region. On his part, the host legislator Bumula's John Wanami Wamboka was elated to have held the inaugural forum with education stakeholders and provided constituents with recommendations to pursue a united front to bring remarkable improvements in the sector. "We will continue to push for key interventions including scholarship programs, resourcing schools and the newly integrated lunch programs for candidates to motivate learners," he said. PS Dr Mukhwana encouraged stakeholder forums to compliment school developments in terms of infrastructure and bursaries. "These have helped us resolve perennial problems and resuscitate the sector which was dwindling to a downfall," he said.

Wetang'ula delivered the funding towards St Peter's Siboti and Nang'eni girl's worth Ksh 5M each to enable the school's put up a computer laboratory and a dormitory respectively. The event saw best achievers awarded and plans penned for the betterment of the region.
