KAMP's NEW FACES PROMISE TO RESTORE HOPE


 Newly elected officials from the just concluded Kenya Association of Music Producers (KAMP) have added a new lease of life to the restoration of one of the region's leading collective firms. Speaking while congratulating the elected officials, KAMP's CEO CS Maurice Okoth expressed optimism saying he is confident that members handpicked the officials based on their experience and work ethic for Producers of phonograms. "We ensured a large majority of the members exercised their right to vote and I'm glad they chose individuals they believe have the capability to secure a sustainable organization for future members. The team consists of personalities not only of high integrity but with vast experience and know-how about the music law and the business." The newly elected officials include household names including Sub Sahara founder Ms Suzzanne Gachukia, Mr Geoffrey Kwatemba and Ms Monica Kibayu. Lawyer and former Tatuu group member Ms Angela Ndambuki retained her seat as the Vice Chair and so did Ms Faith Kithele, Rev Anthony Musembi, amongst others. The KAMP's CEO affirmed that the leadership will add value to the firm and artists' benefits by advocating and protecting the rights of producers of sound recordings. "We believe in them and hope they will adhere to the course. It was a transparent and balanced election that ensured equal gender representation. Indeed, this is the dream team," a contented member said. 
 As one of his initial tasks since assuming office, Youths, sports and arts Cabinet Secretary Ababu Namwamba met with senior officials of collective firms where he urged them to streamline operations in a bid to craft a way forward in addressing the plight of musicians, copyright compliance from music users, Royalties and the transformation of the music industry in Kenya.

Youth in Machakos County benefit digitally

 Kabaa's Lucky Graduands: Youth in Machakos County benefit technologically from Kabaa Digital Resource center  Various youth from Machakos county were over the weekend awarded with certificates at a colorful ceremony following their successful completion of digital studies. The students who had enrolled at Kabaa digital resource center, received a further equipment and financial boost from donors to help them facilitate their operations and set up their businesses. PRESIDENT RUTO CLEARS CATHERINE KASAVULI'S 4M HOSPITAL BILL

 President William Ruto has waived the hospital bill incurred by the late veteran journalist Catherine Kasavuli, KBC anchor John Jacob has confirmed. In a tweet, Kioria expressed gratitude to the Head of State for helping offset the bill. "Great thanks to our President who has waived the hospital bill incurred by my colleague Catherine Kasavuli. May her soul continue to rest in peace," he wrote.  The family sought the help of well-wishers to offset an outstanding Ksh4 million bill accrued during Kasavuli's stay and treatment in the hospital. A requiem mass for the late journalist will be held on Thursday, January 12, 2023, at the Friends International Church along Ngong Road in Nairobi. Kasavuli's remains will then be transported to Vihiga county where the final service will take place at her rural home at Tigoi Primary School on Saturday, January 14.
