KimboCare, the tech platform enables broader access to quality maternal care in a new collaboration

New moms in Nairobi to benefit from a maternal healthCare Program in new collaboration between M.P. Shah and KimboCare.

KimboCare, a new digital health platform that offers traceability of medical services within a hospital to its impact driven clients, is leveraging its local medical network, M.P. Shah Hospital being part of it, to offer paid antenatal services to over 70 expectant financially underserved women around Nairobi region.

The program, which is designed to reduce inefficiencies and healthcare costs, will be beneficial to low-income women and will ensure they reap the benefits of receiving adequate antenatal care by increased access to education and support: antenatal care provides an opportunity for women to receive information and support on topics such as nutrition, exercise, and stress management during pregnancy. With this collaboration, both organisations seek to provide adequate prenatal care which has been largely linked to reduced maternal and neonatal mortality rates.

Antenatal care is important for all women, but particularly for low-income women, as it can help ensure a healthy pregnancy and positive birth outcome. "There has been significant progress reducing maternal mortality rates in Kenya over the past two decades, but access to quality preventative care remains an issue for women living in more precarious settings. KimboCare aims to close the gap to access once and for all.”, KimboCare’s Murielle Tiambo pointed out.

Select criteria inform eligibility into the program. These will include confirmed pregnancy, residence in Nairobi metro area and proof of limited financial resources.

Members of the diaspora have previously lauded the effectiveness of KimboCare's cashless solution that has now become a go to platform when they are seeking to support families back home in Kenya.

“We appreciate the warm embrace for innovation we are receiving in Kenya and have an established collaboration scheme with medical institutions in the KimboCare network, which includes M.P. Shah Hospital and GoodLife Pharmacy. This outcome-based program, in which we are aiming at supporting healthy pregnancies is just a first of a series to come, as more organizations seek to purchase health outcomes from the KimboCare marketplace." KimboCare's Franck Tiambo affirmed.

Thanks to its innovative concept of “health credits”, a Blockchain-enabled technology, the KimboCare platform allows a better traceability of medical services delivered to a low-income patient, promoting health equities in global health access and hopefully, more effective progress towards 2030 United Nations SDG for health coverage for all.
