Details have now emerged of the day Brazilian soccer star Pele was paid a whopping $120k just to tie his shoelaces on live television.
During the 1970 World Cup, soccer legend Pele was caught in the middle of a sponsorship dispute between Adidas and Puma. Both companies wanted him to wear their products, but Pele ultimately chose to go with Puma. In the footage, the soccer legend was caught on camera tying his shoelaces ahead of a football match between Brazil and arch-rivals Peru.
According to experts, factoring in the inflation rates to date, the amount today
would have been equivalent to 1 million dollars just to wear the brand.
The soccer legend also took home the World Cup in that year too!
